Technical Tip Tuesday Presented by DocuSketch
Why 360 Imaging Is a Game-Changer for Restoration Documentation and Accuracy
Capture full-room views and create timelines with 360 imaging that boost your accuracy and transparency
Capturing a 360 image is quick; it takes about 20 seconds per room once you get the hang of it, and it’s a game-changer for documentation. With 360 imaging, you capture a full sphere view: high, low and everything in between. This means you can always revisit the job virtually, reducing the need for additional site visits later.
With this type of imaging, you capture accurate floor plans using advanced mathematical calculations. While LiDAR technology is great, 360 imagery is just a bit more advanced, allowing you to see better results.
If you layer multiple walkthroughs with 360 imagery — with initial walkthrough, after demo, after equipment placement, etc. — it creates a timeline of documentation. If an adjuster or customer has questions about your estimate, you can share the 360 tours with them as visual proof. This not only supports your estimate but also helps prevent disputes.
Pro Tip: Make multiple walkthroughs part of your standard process. It’s a small step that delivers big benefits in accuracy and transparency.
A special thank you to Chris Tilkov, Director at DocuSketch and the President and Founder of AiME Estimate Review, for this week’s tip. See you next week!
