Preparing Your Restoration Business for 2027

Violand Management Associates’ Jeff Jones and Josh Bachman share what restorers should prioritize now to build a stronger business in 2027

By Kayla McGowan
October 1, 2026

Welcome back to another episode of Ask The Expert. This week, we’re joined by our friends at Violand Management Associates, and we’re talking all things business. That might sound broad, but we’re diving into strategy, hard truths, planning, and what you should be thinking about as you prepare your restoration business for 2027.

My special guests this week are Jeff Jones, Director of Sales & Marketing and Business Development Advisor, and Josh Bachman, Business Advisor. Both have worked with restoration contractors at all stages of their businesses, and they share advice, insights, and action items to help you close out the year strong and start 2027 with a strong strategic plan.

Key topics of discussion and takeaways from this episode include:

  • You can no longer rely on strong demand alone to grow your business. You need to know your numbers, manage your cash closely, and run your business like a disciplined business, not just a technical service.
  • In the next 12 to 18 months, you’ll face more pressure from informed customers, tighter claim decisions, and increased competition. Jeff and Josh share why education, service, and stronger internal systems can help you differentiate your business.
  • One of your biggest opportunities is becoming a better business operator. Building a stronger sales process, diversifying your referral sources, and investing in management and leadership can help you grow without relying on a single channel or the same strategies you’ve always used.
  • You need to set aside time to build a real strategy around your long-term goals. Your plan should give you direction while still allowing you to pivot when market conditions change.
If you’d like to take the conversation a step further, you have the perfect opportunity this October and November with Violand Management Associates’ Business Planning Retreats. They’re heading to Bonita Springs, Florida, October 19-21, and Phoenix, Arizona, November 9-11 and 12-14. To learn more, click here.
