Building a Legacy Through Culture and Community

Jorge and Michelle Gutierrez share how strong culture, community involvement and team resilience help build a lasting legacy

By Kayla McGowan
September 29, 2025

On this episode of Ask The Expert, we’re joined by the husband-and-wife duo, Jorge and Michelle Gutierrez, owners of SERVPRO Team Gutierrez. Jorge and Michelle have over 33 years of experience and carry numerous certifications. Key contributions include coaching youth sports, sitting on the Board for Olney Boys and Girls Club and serving SERVPRO’s Operating Systems Improvement Board. Both Jorge and Michelle are passionate about giving back, not just to their community, but to their team and the industry. This episode, we discuss building a legacy through culture, community and resilience.

A special congratulations to Team Gutierrez for taking home Franchise of the Year. They take pride in this accomplishment but echo the importance of the team they’ve built and why it’s so important to have an amazing team behind you. This accomplishment was impossible without their amazing team behind them.

Key topics of discussion include:

  • Maintaining and evolving the culture as the business grows is a conscious effort, involving constant communication and alignment.
  • Winning the Franchise of the Year award reflects the company's longevity, team stability and commitment to excellence.
  • The team's resilience, adaptability and commitment to serving customers were crucial in overcoming obstacles.
  • The company is deeply involved in the local community, supporting youth sports, first responders and other initiatives.
  • This commitment to the community has positively impacted the company's culture and the personal fulfillment of the owners and team.
  • Embrace change, be open to new ideas, and continuously evolve to stay relevant.
  • Truly live and breathe the core values, making them central to the company's culture and decision-making.
  • Focus on building a lasting legacy, not just financial success, by prioritizing community involvement and social impact.
