Technical Tip Tuesday Presented by AG Pro Training
The Three Ps for Effective Training in the Restoration Industry
How restoration companies can overcome training barriers and measure its impact on employee development
We’re back with your third Technical Tip Tuesday of the month. This month’s series is proudly sponsored by AG Pro Training.
Joining us again is Alexandra Gualtieri, owner of AG Pro Training, to discuss a challenge many restoration businesses face ensuring training translates into better performance in the field.
In the first two episodes, we discussed training roadmaps and overcoming common training barriers. This week, we’re focused on what happens before and after training, and why those steps are crucial.
Alexandra recommends following the Three Ps:
- Prepare: You should clearly communicate the purpose of the training, establish learning objectives, and create an environment that allows your technicians to focus and engage.
- Practice: Employees should immediately practice their new skills through field application, coaching, and mentorship.
- Pass It On: Encourage your technicians to share their key takeaways with the rest of the team. It helps reinforce what they learned and spreads knowledge throughout your organization.
When you’re evaluating your team’s training, you must look beyond their exam scores and start looking at measurable data. Successful training improves your job quality, decreases callbacks, and improves employee confidence.
Those who find success in their training are those who intentionally prepare their employees before they ever go off to train and support them when they return through practice and coaching, and have them pass on their knowledge to the rest of the team.
Thank you for tuning in to this week’s Technical Tip Tuesday. We’ll see you next week for our final tip of the month.
