BSR-IICRC S540

The IICRC has opened a public review period for its new draft BSR-IICRC S540 Standard for Trauma and Crime Scene Remediation. The draft S540 Standard is available for public review through Nov. 21.

The IICRC S540 Standard describes the procedures to be followed and the precautions to be taken when performing trauma and crime scene remediation regardless of surface, item or location. It defines criteria and methodology used by the technician for inspecting and investigating blood and other potentially infectious material (OPIM) contamination and for establishing work plans and procedures.

The IICRC S540 draft Standard is available for review and comment as part of the ANSI 45-day public review period. To access the draft Standard and comment form, visit http://www.iicrc.org/standards/iicrc-s540/. All comments must be submitted using completed forms to IICRC Standards Director Mili Washington at mili@iicrc.org, no later than November 21.

IICRC Welcomes Two New Members to 2016-2017 Board of Directors

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) today announced the election of five members to the 2016-2017 Board of Directors. Elections were held during the IICRC’s October shareholder meeting in Las Vegas.

New Board of Directors members include Jessika James and Robert Pettyjohn. Joe Dobbins, Pete Duncanson and Kevin Pearson were reelected. Also new to the Board this year as honorary members are Scott Mitseff and James Tole.

Following the election, the new Board of Directors elected Pete Duncanson as Chairman of the Board. As Chair, Duncanson will serve as Chairman of the Executive Committee which includes: Kevin Pearson, first vice president; Craig Kersemeier, second vice president; Paul Pearce, third vice president; Joe Dobbins, treasurer; and Matt Cole, secretary.

“We’re excited to welcome both new and familiar faces to the Board,” said Duncanson. “It’s been a challenging year for the Institute, but we’ve righted the ship and look forward to what lies ahead.”

Additional members of the 2016-2017 Board of Directors include:

  • Jeff Bishop
  • Dennis Blake
  • Matt Cole
  • Gary Glenn
  • Craig Jasper
  • Patrick Moffett
  • Steve Moran
  • Paul Pearce
  • Carey Vermeulen

New Management

Reminder! In mid-August, the IICRC transitioned to self-management, and as part of that change, there is a new toll-free telephone number (844-464-4272) and helpdesk email address (helpdesk@iicrcnet.org).

Additionally, the IICRC no longer has a presence in Virginia, or a fax number as part of the transition, so please send all communications, including financial transactions, to the Global Resource Center at 4043 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV, 89119, USA.

S500 Educational Videos

Twelve new educational videos are now available to premium subscribers of the IICRC’s Standards Subscription Website. The videos feature presentations from a special two-day, invitation-only S500 seminar hosted at the Global Resource Center in Las Vegas in March. The video presentations include tutorials from S500 consensus body members on the newly-revised fourth edition, including explanations of the entire document as well as its major changes and applications.

The IICRC subscription website allows online access to all current IICRC standards, reference guides, technical papers and multimedia publications from anywhere an Internet connection is available – completely eliminating the need to carry a 300-plus page binder to worksites. The site also allows you to:

  • Log in anywhere and access online content on your tablet, phone or computer
  • Search and sort for what you need and get information on the spot
  • Make notes online and save them for reference later
  • Download individual sections and chapters as needed
