An Earthquake Symposium to advance seismic-resistant technologies will be held at the California NanoSystems Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles, on Dec. 1. The symposium will promote the necessary collaboration of architects, engineers, owners and policymakers to implement solutions to help structures in our cities withstand the effects of earthquakes.

The symposium is expected to draw an audience of more than 200 owners, policymakers, engineers, architects, contractors and students. Participants w ill explore recent seismic events, risk management, and some effective retrofitting and practical solutions that mitigate earthquake damage.
