ICC 2026 Annual Conference Draws Record Attendance in Nashville

The International Code Council (ICC) hosted its Annual Conference and Expo at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, from Oct. 18-21. The event gave building safety professionals opportunities to expand their knowledge and build their professional networks.
“United by a shared commitment to building safety, thousands of professionals from across the globe will come together this week to share expertise and take advantage of unparalleled professional development opportunities,” said Ron Piester, senior vice president, ICC Member Services. “We are excited to welcome the brightest minds in building safety to creating safer, more resilient and sustainable communities as we kick off this year’s Annual Conference.”
The Opening Session and Annual Business Meeting took place on Monday, Oct. 19, and featured updates from association leadership and the election of ICC Board Officers and Directors. Following the Opening Session, former NASA astronaut and professor of mechanical engineering at Columbia University, Mike Massimino, delivered a keynote presentation encouraging passion, teamwork, and innovation.
Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a focus session with the lead investigators of NIST’s Champlain Towers South investigation about how their findings and lessons from other building failures can inform codes, standards, enforcement, and building safety practices.
A comprehensive, full-day education program offered guests a variety of learning tracks on topics including code enforcement, energy and sustainability, permitting and more.
ICC once again partnered with ConstructReach to host the work-based learning event, “I Built This!” Through hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations, and direct engagement with construction professionals, over 200 local high school students gained firsthand exposure to built-environment careers.
“As the ICC Annual Conference brings industry leaders together in Nashville, the 'I Built This!" event will once again invite the next generation to explore careers within the industry and develop next steps,” said Paul Robinson, CEO and founder of ConstructReach. “Our goal is simple: We want students to have real access—hands-on learning, face time with professionals, and clear pathways to internships, apprenticeships, and long-term careers in construction and building safety. Our continued partnership with ICC is helping to build the workforce our communities and economy need.”
