(Wood Dale, IL, October 6, 2010) – Disaster Kleenup International, Inc., North America's largest disaster restoration contracting organization, today announced that DKI Member Company, 281-Flooded of Houston, TX, is a proud participant in the popular ABC Series, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, surprising the Johnson family of Houston, TX.

Married 15 years with backgrounds as youth mentors, Eric and Elaine Johnson became licensed counselors in 2006 when they realized the African American community was being overpowered by a seeming epidemic of family disintegration. Parents to five fun-loving daughters, ages five to fourteen, the Johnson’s began a marriage and family counseling non-profit called Optimum Lifestyle with the goal of strengthening marriages in fun, creative ways.

They take inner-city families to the outdoors to give them a camp-like experience and teach them about teamwork and trust. Eric is passionate about African American fathers stepping up to play a larger role in their children’s lives. Their couples’ seminars, which are provided to anyone in need for either no-charge or a nominal fee, have possibly saved 1500 marriages and kept countless kids from growing up in single parent homes.

When the family inherited a run-down inner city house, they planned to transform it. But the one-two punch of 2008’s Hurricane Ike and the economic downturn put that dream on hold.

Undaunted, they continued their mission while living in a dangerously dilapidated house. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition stepped in and worked to replace their house with a brand new home that allows them to finally be together again in a safe environment.

281-Flooded assisted by providing drying and cleaning services, including dehumidification and round-the-clock monitoring and labor, to expedite the drying of the drywall, primer, and paint in the interior and exterior of the home. The project was completed the week of July 25, 2010 in Houston, TX.
