The BlackBoxx, designed by KD Engineering, was unveiled at the 2009 AHR Expo in Chicago in January.
The KD Engineering BlackBoxx is a two-function instrument meant to work in conjunction with the popular shAirBoxx IAQ monitors. Up to 16 individual shAirBoxxes throughout a building can now be connected simultaneously with one BlackBoxx. The BlackBoxx then uses zigbee technology to collect data and store up to 225,000 data points.
The BlackBoxx also has the ability to upload data directly to the Internet. It can use a number of different technologies including WiFi, cellular modem, Ethernet, and WiMax. Not all buildings have the same or any internet access, so KD Engineering has build in redundancies in the communication technology.
