W.steps continues to innovate the telescopic ladder category with new accessories that make using and transporting its ladders to and from jobsites easier and safer. The accessories include a backpack carrier, top support, tool tray, adjustable safety feet and ground spikes.
W.steps (pronounced “vee-steps”) PRIME, COMBI and RESCUE ladders are made in Sweden from aircraft-grade, certified aluminum to meet the rigorous demands of trade professionals and emergency personnel. They feature a patented triangular tube design that produces a stronger, more rigid and safer ladder.
W.steps Backpack
The W.steps ladder backpack is designed for comfort, ease of use and durability. The carrier allows users to transport W.steps ladders and keep their hands free. In addition to holding the ladder, the backpack has a zippered front storage compartment with 16 pockets for screwdrivers, rules and other essential tools. Padded back and shoulder straps ensure comfort and durable 1680 Denier fabric holds up to job site rigors. Two snap locks secure the ladder into the holder and adjustable straps accommodate the PRIME, COMBI and RESCUE ladders. MSRP is $110.
W.steps Top Support
For a safer and more ergonomic ladder position, the W.steps dual feature top support can put distance between the ladder and the surface it’s leaning against or provide a more secure attachment point to a rounded element, like a light post, pole or even a tree.
The W.steps accessory has 14-inch top support posts with non-marking rubber ends that can be positioned against walls, corners or any other surfaces. When the ladder is placed against a rounded surface, the top support has a 4 ½ -inch “V” that keeps the ladder stable so the task at hand can be performed more easily and safer. When not in use, the top support conveniently folds down against the ladder.
The top support can easily be added to the PRIME and RESCUE line ladders. MSRP is $88.
W.steps Tool Tray
The W.steps tool tray is a click-on attachment that holds tools, screws and other necessary equipment. The tray can be mounted on any of the top three rungs and eliminates the hassle of going up and down the ladder to retrieve items. It is designed for the PRIME line ladder and doesn’t need to be removed when folding the ladder for transport and storage. MSRP is $43.
W.steps Adjustable Safety Feet and Ground Spikes
For added stability, the PRIME and RESCUE lines offer adjustable safety feet. With these feet, the leg height can be set individually to ensure the ladder has full, level contact on stairs or uneven surfaces. When using the W.steps ladder in the snow, mud or dirt, ground spikes fit onto the safety feet to dig into the ground for a solid foundation. MSRP for the adjustable safety feet is $109 and $32 for the ground spikes.
W.steps Pulls Its Weight
Ladders that are dependable and safe on jobsites are the ones that can hold the weight and remain stable. The PRIME and COMBI lines are Type 1A heavy duty ANSI certified. The RESCUE Line meets EN 1147 requirements and can handle up to 1,102 lbs., hold three people simultaneously and easily convert to a stretcher.
In addition to industry certifications, third-party, “torture” testing found that the W.steps PRIME Line ladder strength far exceeds its weight classification. In one test, the stair treads of a W.steps PRIME 13.5′ ladder were loaded with a hydraulic ram and withstood 2,500 lbs. of force. In another strength test, bags of gravel were suspended across the length of a W.steps PRIME Line 9.5′ ladder. In this horizontal load test, the W.steps ladder supported 975 lbs. In a final test, an isolated rail section of a 9.5′ ladder was subjected to a three-point bending test and withstood a force of more than 2,300 lbs.
