Mold Remediation Resources & Field Strategies

Industry leaders share practical tools, communication protocols and field-tested strategies to help mold remediation teams succeed

By Kayla McGowan
October 22, 2025

On this special episode on Ask The Expert, we’re joined by Doug Hoffman, Co-Founder/CEO of NORMI, Doc Shane, Chief Mycologist of Priority Lab and Bret Sallee, National Trainer for Goldmorr USA. This is a continuation of our live Q&A at The Experience. We had a question in the audience about the resources technicians and field teams can utilize while working in the field. We decided to take our original questions and change them from more technical and science-based to resources that can be leveraged by our teams.

Highlights of our discussion include:

  • How to identify when a mold job requires a system-based approach and developing internal processes to accurately scope and price the projects properly.
  • Leveraging collaborative tools, testing methods and follow-up protocols to ensure long-term success.
  • Addressing breakdowns in communication and execution during mold remediation, and how cross-training and shared protocols help prevent them.
  • The importance of the Bergman Amendment and its potential impact on driving consistency in how mold is identified and removed, particularly in military and privatized housing.
  • Strategies for approaching client education around mold risks, balancing transparency with professionalism and avoiding unnecessary confusion or worry for the customer.
  • The need for industry-wide standardization, accountability and collaboration to establish a baseline for acceptable indoor air quality and mold levels.
