RIA Announces 2020 Restoration Convention + Industry Expo is Going Virtual

RIA-News
July 13, 2020
After careful consideration, the Restoration Industry Association (RIA) made the difficult decision to reschedule the 2020 Restoration Convention + Industry Expo, originally scheduled to take place April 14-16, 2020 in New Orleans, LA. Our decision to reschedule the meeting was not taken lightly. In monitoring updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as state and local governments limiting travel and mass gatherings, it became apparent that the convention would have to be rescheduled.

Within weeks of making the initial decision to postpone, RIA hosted our first ever Virtual Conference complimentary to all registrants of the 2020 Restoration Convention + Industry Expo to provide restorers with critical information related to mitigating risk and helping your business manage the pandemic. Topics included joint RIA and IICRC technical resources, PPE, pricing for infectious cleanup, COVID-19 clearance and keeping your culture alive in a crisis. The conference also included a Town Hall session focused on RIA’s partnership with IICRC and our advocacy work.

During the Town Hall, Mark Springer and Xactware CEO Mike Fulton discussed challenges faced by restorers related to Xactimate pricing which has subsequently led to additional dialogue and progress with Xactware on pricing issues. The Virtual Conference on-demand content is available here, and is complimentary to all registrants of the 2020 Restoration Convention + Industry Expo and is valid for 4 CECs with RIA & IICRC.

In addition to offering the Virtual Conference in April, we pursued a new location and date for the rescheduled in-person convention in the Fall of 2020. However, due to the continued uncertainty related to COVID-19 and its impact on the health and safety of our attendees, as well as the ability of venues to host gatherings of this size, RIA has determined that hosting the 2020 Restoration Convention + Industry Expo virtually is the best approach.
