It’s hard to escape the excitement surrounding PLR Expo 2015. From social media posts (and videos! Seriously – Dan Murray is a pro!) to announcements across industry resources, it’s pretty clear a lot of professionals in the “Property Loss Restoration” (PLR) industry are going to be in Toronto next month.

Organizers call PLR the disaster restoration industry’s premier fall event, dedicated to educating and pushing your restoration business further. The conference and expo will feature informative sessions and workshops, a pair of hilarious keynote speakers, and abounding opportunities to network.

A Barrel of Laughs (and Insight)

Kris and Tim O’Shea will be this year’s keynotes, presenting their program, Change 180. But don’t expect it to be any ordinary keynote. This duo honed their comedic skills in comedy clubs and theaters by night – while working sales, training and HR jobs by day. It’s through these experiences they learned the importance of laughter to connect with others, and to deal with stress in the ever-changing work environment.

During their time on stage, Kris and Tim will take attendees on a journey through the ups and downs of dealing with change. Through motivational humor, the O’Sheas help ease feelings of tension and stress surrounding change, and open minds to the progress change brings.

The O’Sheas have been voted among the top five entertainment keynote speakers in the last four years by Speakers Platform, and they’ve performed in front of a multitude of audiences including a General Motors, McDonald’s, State Farm, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and others.

RCOC Annual Meeting

Earlier this year, the Restoration Contractor Organization of Canada formed a strategic partnership with the Restoration Industry Association. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, the RCOC will hold its annual general meeting during PLR. They will be discussing a number of current issues affecting both restoration industry professionals and stakeholders alike. Together, the RCOC and RIA are able to advocate and educate as one.

Pre & Post-Conference Training

While there will be numerous educational breakout sessions during the conference itself, PLR isn’t stopping there. On Monday, Nov. 16 and Friday, Nov. 20, additional training is being offered on a variety of topics including:

  • Marketing Large Losses
  • Xactimate Proficiency
  • Remediation for Sensitized Individuals
  • Successional Planning for the Restoration Owner
