IAQA hosting L.A. Workshop

The Los Angeles Chapter of the Indoor Air Quality Association is pleased to announce our quarterly morning workshop on April 24. Educational units may be earned by attending this workshop (ABIH, IAQA).

“Assessing structures from the Turn of the Century to Present Day” will cover the type of structure our industry or related industry encounter on a regular basis. Although many of the structure are constructed of much different material and were designed to operate much different than we some time think. The idea of this presentation is to help you be more aware of reasons structure fail or resist failure as well as reasons why failure may occur after a major upgrade of an older structure.

Presentation will cover structure types, material used, built methods, heating systems, slab on grade, raised foundations, building Science effect, moisture and air travel trough structure, environmental affects to the structure types, etc.

Steven R. Canter is President of CPI Consulting, Inc. in Newport Beach, Ca. and performs inspections, consulting of structure deficiencies as well as indoor environmental assessments primarily in residential properties since 1996. He provides very detailed assessments and correctional measures that are required to remediate and maintain properties structural integrity while maintaining a good indoor environment.

Christopher J. Olsen will discuss “Business Entities and Common Pitfalls,” examining the general attributes of various business entities (i.e., Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Limited Liability Company, Limited Liability Partnership, and Corporation), as well as considerations and pitfalls relating to choosing, forming and operating a business entity in California.

Olsen has been an attorney for 25 years, with offices in Westlake Village, California. Olsen’s practice focuses on forming and representing business entities, handling business and transactional matters, civil litigation, contractor disputes and construction matters, and personal injury. Olsen has represented a number of firms involved in the environmental industry over a period of many years.

The workshop will be held at Skirball Center: 2701 North Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049.

IAQA Member Cost: $85.00 (includes Breakfast & Lunch)

Non-Member Cost: $105.00 (includes Breakfast & Lunch)
