St. Paul, MN - March 2, 2009 -- The Association of Women Contractor’s is now accepting applications for its Annual Scholarship Awards. The AWC plans to award a number of $1,000.00 scholarships to female students pursuing careers in the construction industry. Qualifications for the scholarship include: female student, current resident of or attending a program in Minnesota; GED or high school graduate on or by July 2009, construction industry major including but not limited to: architecture, construction management, engineering, electrical, plumbing and mechanical. The AWC has awarded $39,000.00 in scholarships since 2001.

Applications are available upon request at awcmn@awcmn.org, or by calling 651-489-2221. Applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2009. Scholarships will be awarded at the AWC’s Awards and Recognition program scheduled for May 21.

The Association of Women Contractors is committed to assisting women-owned companies in the construction industry to become an active voice in the Minnesota business community. The organization promotes contract opportunities, monitors legislative issues that impact the industry, and provides a forum for women contractors to network with each other.
