Repair work begins at Winthrop's Owens Hall
Crews brought in scaffolding this
morning and prepared to climb the roof of Owens Hall, where they will begin
peeling off shingles damaged in a weekend fire.
The work marked the start of efforts to restore Winthrop University’s $6.5 million academic building, a process that will keep Owens closed until the fall.
School officials hope to have damage estimates in the next day or so. Information technology workers must determine the extent of damage to computers and other equipment in the three-story building, which opened in 2007. From the HeraldOnline.com.
