1-800-PACK-RAT, a service leader in portable storage and moving solutions, was a sponsor at the second annual CHERUBS Golf Tournament on Friday, June 10. This event is organized by Chris Leith Automotive and raises money and awareness for children suffering from Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernias (CDH).  CDH is a condition in which a baby’s diaphragm doesn’t develop properly and affects a child’s ability to have necessary lung functionality. In the United States, about 1,600 children are diagnosed with CDH each year.

Based out of Wake Forest, NC, CHERUBS was established in 1995 after the founder had a child with CDH and realized there were very little resources available. Since then, the organization has grown to include over 4,100 members across 54 countries and all 50 states.  CHERUBS also runs the longest CDH research study in hopes to find the cause to prevent future generations from developing this birth defect.

The Chris Leith Golf Tournament gave golfers and local businesses a chance to come together to have fun and help children and families touched by CDH. 1-800-PACK-RAT sponsored one of the holes on the course and was able to set up a table, meet and greet some of the players and provide refreshments, snacks, and some promotional items. “It is important to us to give back to our local communities, and we always appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the event in addition to supporting financially,” said James Burati III, Sr. VP Sales and Marketing with 1-800-PACK-RAT. “We look forward to participating in future events to help children and their families continue to raise money for research.” A couple of members from the 1-800-PACK-RAT team also participated in the golf tournament. While they didn’t place, the whole team enjoyed being part of a great event!
