IICRC Update: September 2014

September 2, 2014

The IICRC election process has officially begun! In early August, the IICRC Vetting Committee began thoroughly reviewing each nomination and narrowing down the list of top candidates based on his/her qualifications. Once the nominations were announced and officially accepted, voting opened for IICRC shareholders.

“We are always looking for new ideas and forward thinkers who can assist us in advancing the mission of the Institute,” said Tony Wheelwright, Chairman of the IICRC. “We have several exciting projects on the horizon, so it’s an exciting time to be involved with the organization.”

The newly elected members will be announced on Oct. 20, 2014 following the IICRC’s fall board meeting, in Vancouver, WA. Throughout the meetings, we will post live updates and photos to our Twitter and Facebook accounts, so be sure to follow us for the latest news.

Standards Updates

  • ANSI/IICRC S500-2006 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration: Public review comments from the third round of public review are currently being reviewed by S500 Consensus Body members. ANSI/IICRC S500 provides a specific set of practical and procedural standards for water damage restoration. It does not provide a specific protocol for all water damage restoration projects; rather, it outlines the foundation for basic principles of proper restoration practices. ANSI/IICRC S500 does not include exhaustive performance characteristics or standards for the manufacture or installation of structural components, materials and contents (personal property).

Call for Members:

  • BSR-IICRC S210 Standard and Reference Guide for Dimension Stone Maintenance and Restoration: Applications are currently being accepted for the S210 Consensus Body and Chapter Committees. The S210 Standard will encompass the cleaning, maintenance, restoration, rehabilitation, preservation methodologies and repair for interior dimension stone.

The new standard will be developed in accordance with the ANSI requirements as an American National Standard. Those interested in submitting an application to participate on the S210 consensus body, please contact Mili Washington, IICRC Standards Director, at mili@iicrc.org
