Supply UK’s specialist damage restoration operation Force 3 is hiring out the Direct Air Dryer (DAD) in the area. DAD inventors David and Jack Elliot believe their invention could also cut 20% off the predicted £100M clean-up costs that insurers may have to pay out in Cumbria.

The DAD works by creating ideal drying conditionsusing a special type of inflatable mattress with small holes in it. The system can be used to dry plaster and concrete faster than usual, and means that only a small number of floorboards have to be removed in each room. From New Civil Engineer.
