As the residents of Los Angeles come to grips with the devastation left behind by the wildfires that have ravaged their communities and the impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton linger, the nation faces critical questions regarding our capacity to manage large-scale disasters and deliver timely aid effectively. In response to these pressing challenges, President Trump has initiated a federal assessment to evaluate the effectiveness of current disaster response and relief operations.
The Incident Management Teams Association (IMTA) is closely monitoring this review. As the sole nonprofit organization representing a diverse array of disaster response professionals serving on Incident Management Teams (IMTs), IMTA is committed to improving disaster resilience and recovery nationwide. Our nonpartisan association comprises approximately 1,000 members, including experts from emergency management, fire services, law enforcement, public health, public works, and other essential disciplines at all governmental levels.
Historical data reveals that jurisdictions employing and maintaining IMTs experience quicker recovery times, optimize resource allocation, demonstrate fiscal responsibility, and rely less on federal intervention. With the national dialogue on enhancing disaster response gaining momentum, the IMTA, along with its President & CEO, Dr. Randal A. Collins, CEM, is poised to provide invaluable insight into the critical role IMTs play in fostering an effective and coordinated response.
Dr. Collins is an internationally recognized authority in emergency management, and is the President and CEO of the IMTA. His expertise, extensive experience, and leadership make him a sought-after speaker, mentor, and guide in the field.
If you’d like to interview Dr. Collins for expert commentary on disaster management and the pivotal role of IMTs, please get in touch with Michael Davis, Public Information Officer for the IMTA, at PIO@ahimta.org or call 505-350-6767.
Don’t miss the opportunity to delve into this crucial topic with one of the leading voices in emergency management.
