Columbia, MD – The Restoration Industry Association (RIA) has announced a number of changes regarding its Certified Restorer (CR) Certification.

With the retirement this year of lead instructor Martin L. King, CR, ASA, RIA has selected three instructors to teach the CR program:
  • Reed Dow, CR #9, Principle, Reed Dow & Associates
  • Norris Gearhart, CR #106, Senior Consultant, Rolyn Companies, Inc.
  • Ken Larsen, CR #250, WLS #24, Business Development Director, DKI
The new instructors are working with RIA’s Director of Training and Education, Cynthia Hereth, to enhance the overall certification program experience for the 2011 Candidates.

Some of the CR Certification changes include: expanded prerequisite requirements; an upgraded curriculum for the overall course of study; a revised CR Candidate manual and Study Guide; expanded online learning courses (which will be available in October 2011); and upgraded curriculum instruction during the final CR Prep Course.

“RIA is extremely pleased to have such knowledgeable instructors with so much collective experience. Martin King has given this program an excellent foundation, and these instructors are committed to retooling and improving the overall certification program,” said Hereth. “The quality of instruction will be phenomenal, and we are anticipating a record number of CR candidates this year.”

The Certified Restorer Prep Course will be held at Disaster Kleenup International (DKI) in Chicago, IL, from November 7-11. The CR exam will be administered on Friday, November 11.
