The construction industry will need to attract nearly 650,000 additional workers on top of the normal pace of hiring in 2022 to meet the demand for labor, according to a model developed by Associated Builders and Contractors.
The week-long event hosted by ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, takes place March 27 – April 2, 2022. National Cleaning Week provides an opportunity to recognize cleaning professionals, promote legislation that supports the industry, get involved in philanthropy, highlight the Value of Clean and more.
The Innovation Summit, scheduled for March 10 from 1-3 p.m. EST, will include 20 fast-paced video presentations by Legend Brands product and solution experts introducing contractors and facility managers to opportunities for better air filtration, exterior cleaning, and automated project management.
Makita U.S.A. has expanded its dust extraction system with two new HEPA dry vacuums. Both models are powered by two 18V LXT batteries and a 36V brushless motor, giving contractors more cordless options for job site dust extraction and cleanups.
“By leveraging granular data for the increasing frequency and severity of catastrophes, we are able to see that more than 14.5 million homes were impacted to some degree by natural hazards in 2021. That’s about 1 in every 10 homes in the United States,” said Tom Larsen, CoreLogic’s principal, Industry Solutions.

The worldwide cleaning industry association has relaunched its online learning platform as the ISSA Online Learning Center. The platform provides access to workshops and courses for cleaning industry professionals.
“While many economists expect inflation to moderate over the course of 2022, as of now, there is effectively no relief in sight for the nation’s contractors,” said ABC Chief Economist Anirban Basu. “Inflation remains hot, hot, hot, with estimates of price increases repeatedly coming in above consensus expectations."
“Despite the omicron variant, ongoing supply chain issues, elevated energy and materials prices and rampant staffing shortages, the average nonresidential contractor remains upbeat,” said ABC Chief Economist Anirban Basu.
Continued improvements to tools to better meet the needs of the industry are promised. In addition, customers can expect to see changes to the existing product name, logos and colors in an effort for more immediate recognition of PSA products across multiple platforms.
