Looking ahead in the New Year

The IICRC experienced a tremendous amount of progress in 2016. A new president, Richard Greene, was hired in February, and the Institute transitioned to self-management in August. Since the transition, the IICRC has quickly built a staff that is committed to providing outstanding customer service and driving the industry forward.

A top priority upon transition, the team along with some committed volunteers (Jeff and Cindy Bishop and Joe and Janet Dobbins) quickly sped up the exam grading process. The IICRC is now processing approximately 630 exams per week with an average turnaround time of  five days for exam scores.

We appreciate everyone’s positivity and patience in 2016 and look forward to demonstrating further improvements in 2017 that will strengthen the IICRC.

The IICRC held its winter Board of Directors meeting Jan. 12-14 at the Global Resource Center in Las Vegas. Feel free to stop by, meet the new staff and tour the GRC.

Seeking Standards Consensus Body volunteers

The IICRC continues to seek volunteers to serve on a consensus body for the development of a new Standard - the BSR-IICRC S400 Standard for Cleaning, Maintenance and Restoration of the Commercial Built Environment.

The BSR-IICRC S400 will focus on the commercial built environment and define tasks, frequencies, production expectations, goals, results, principles, methods and processes to clean, maintain and restore the built environment (i.e. materials, building assemblies, structures, furniture, fixtures, and equipment located inside a building envelope).

The IICRC is also seeking volunteers for the following Standards and Reference Guides:

  • ANSI/IICRC S100: Standard and IICRC R100 Reference Guide for Professional Cleaning of Textile Floor Coverings.
  • BSR-IICRC S300: Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Upholstery Cleaning.
  • *New* BSR-IICRC S550: Standard for Professional Water Damage Restoration of Commercial Structures.
  • ANSI/IICRC S800: Standard and R800 Reference Guide for Professional Inspection of Textile Floor Coverings.

Those interested in submitting an application to participate on the consensus bodies should visit the Standards website at http://www.iicrc.org/standards/.
