DOYLESTOWN, PA, DECEMBER 14, 2010 – The National Demolition Association’s Demolition Academy – an intensive safety and management training event – will take place March 5-6, 2011 in Las Vegas, right before the opening of the National Demolition Association’s 38th Annual Convention at The Mirage. The decision to connect the two events was made to enable participants to take advantage of the convention, which runs March 5-8.

The Demolition Academy begins Saturday March 5 with the Demolition-Specific OSHA 10-Hour Certification. For those already holding their certification, there is concurrent in-depth training in basic industrial hygiene for the demolition industry, fall protection, and developing and utilizing a demolition engineering survey. All sessions conclude at 12:30 p.m.

The Sunday March 6 session provides a continuation of the Demolition-Specific OSHA Certification of the previous day, or the option of full-day management training workshops in generational communicating, OSHA’s new crane standard, and a session called “When Disaster Strikes.” Again, all courses conclude at 12:30 p.m.

The Demolition-Specific OSHA 10-Hour Training Certification is taught by certified instructors and is required by many of the industry’s larger clients, according to Michael R. Taylor, CAE, NDA Executive Director. “It should be an important part of every company’s safety training program and is also required as part of OSHA’s Disaster Site Worker Training Certification,” he said, adding that 2011 is the 17th year that the Association has been offering a formal safety training program to the industry.

The National Demolition Association’s Demolition Academy gives participants a selection of options for attending the event. Attendees can sign up for the entire safety/management program or the OSHA 10-hour for a flat fee of $175. They can also pick individual classes for $50 per class. The program includes continental breakfasts and coffee breaks each day. Attendees are also entitled to visit the Convention Exhibit Hall on Sunday afternoon at no extra charge.

For information on a special $229 per night room rate at The Mirage from March 3-11, contact The Mirage at 800-627-6667 and mention the National Demolition Association. More information on the event is available at http://www.demolitionassociation.com/SAFETY/NDAsAnnualDemolitionAcademy/tabid/203/Default.aspx or by contacting the Association at info@demolitionassociation.com or 800-541-2412.
