You may remember last year’s Florida House Bill 909, which would have taken away the homeowner’s ability to assign rights and benefits under their insurance contract.
According to Harvey V. Cohen, Cohen Battisti Attorneys at Law, the original language proposed in Florida House Bill 909, which was designed to strip homeowners of their right to assign benefits, has been removed.
According to a press release, RIA believes that the use of an assignment of benefits (AOB) is in the best interest of the policy holder, and any prohibition will result in delaying work needed for the proper restoration of damage.
