It’s been another exciting year full of new developments and innovation in restoration industry, so we thought it would be fitting to take a look back at some of the biggest headlines in the industry as well as some of the most popular stories that have appeared in Restoration & Remediation. Check out what we came up with below. What do you think has been the biggest story in 2012?

• We held a Q&A with Trent Massey about plugging “green” into restoration.
• The RIA wrote about a big problem impacting the industry– that is mortgage holders withholding payments that are due to restoration firms for work they’ve performed.
• The International Cleaning and Restoration Association officially formed.
• The IICRC changed its name to The Clean Trust, then changed its name back to the IICRC.
• We ran a story on mobile technology, how it’s shaping business and why you’re likely behind if you’re not utilizing it.
• Michael Pinto penned an in-depth story on just how effective ultrasonic cleaning machines really are using a variety of research.
• The Crawford Contractor Connection ran into some unfortunate circumstances when an explosion occurred in the Opryland Hotel, forcing the cancellation of the exhibition portion of the show. However, the show rebounded nicely and was the best attended in its history.
• We’ve ran countless case studies.
• Dave Dybdahl debunked some of the urban legends associated with a restoration contractor’s insurance needs.
• We looked at the pros and cons of franchising vs. staying independent.
