A local general remodel contractor was performing a renovation on a bank-owned property that had been left unattended and had significant visible mold growth. Virtually every surface in the home was covered. The contractor performed what they considered a thorough cleanup of the building structure including the removal of most drywall and other interior surfaces that had visible growth. They also “cleaned” the structural elements of the building and then applied a seal coat to what was left.

The Bank, however, wanted more. To their credit, they required an air quality clearance before they would accept the renovation. That’s where Goldmorr came in. We were initially contracted to simply come out and perform an air quality test. We did this using particle count technologies that are tied into international standards for clean air set by the ISO, WHO and other governmental agencies.

The results, while not surprising to Goldmorr companies, shocked the contractor.

Every room failed the clearance test. While the contractor had done a relatively thorough job cleaning up the visible mold, they had not taken into account the unseen mold spores that remained in the environment. Mold spores that, from a health perspective, would quite likely create more problems than the visible growth alone.

Now the contractor was stumped on how to proceed. We explained that a simple air quality treatment using our GM2000 fogging agent would take care of those unseen spores. It literally took longer to travel out to the job than perform the fogging treatment.

The next day a clearance test was performed again with sterling results: Every room passed with flying colors leaving another thrilled and satisfied customer.

The moral of this story: Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.
