Later this month, the IICRC will hold its spring Certification Council and Board of Directors (BOD) meetings on April 13-15 in Nashville. Held immediately preceding the National Wood Floor Association’s (NWFA) Wood Flooring Expo (April 16-19), this will be the first time that the IICRC has held a BOD meeting in conjunction with a MoU partner show.

IICRC Launches The Journal

The much anticipated inaugural issue of The Journal of Cleaning, Restoration & Inspection (The Journal) hit mailboxes in early March and the IICRC would like to thank everyone for their positive feedback!

To view the electronic version of The Journal, visit http://www.iicrc.org/thejournal/.

This first issue featured four technical, peer-reviewed articles:

  • The first, written by Jerry Blaylock, examines the role of vapor pressure and enthalpy in drying water-damaged wood-based materials.
  • The second article unveiled the just-completed ANSI/IICRC S800 inspection standard. Co-written by Bill Doan and Lew Migliore, the chair and co-chair, respectively, of the S-800 Consensus Body. The article includes an explanation of the standard-writing process as well as excerpts from the standard.
  • Roy Reichow, an MWFA instructor, wrote the third article. The article examined hardwood floor cleaning and restoration in residential settings.
  • Finally, J.R. Webster, PhD wrote about the performance characteristics of synthetic carpet fibers from the perspective of a polymer chemist.

The Journal is the first and only publication of its kind in the cleaning, restoration and inspection industries. It will be published six times per year. The Journal is a new benefit for IICRC Certified Firms, master cleaners and restorers, inspectors, and instructors and schools, all of whom will receive free print copies of The Journal. In addition, all current registrants of the Institute will have free access to the electronic version.
