Ice dams, roof leaks keep contractors busy

MANSFIELD -- Local contractors say rooftop ice and clogged gutters this winter are the worst since the 2005 ice storm and possibly in 25 years.

The month-long weather pattern -- heavy snow followed by sunshine and slight warming -- creates ice dams up to a foot or more in gutters.

"It's been a unique situation where we've been getting more snow on top of more snow on top of more snow," said Ben Weiss of Sherriff-Goslin Roofing. "The deeper the snow, the worse the problem." From the Mansfield News Journal.
